E G Martin - 18 November 1928

Edward George Martin, at the age of 27, came to the factory in May, 1935, as a mixer in Department 301. In three months he was transferred to reclaim, Department 304, and from there he was promoted to checker on Department 323. After checking on several departments he became foreman of the school conveyor in October, that is less than six months after his career at the factory began.
He was then appointed chief manipulator for the Rubber factory, becoming fully experienced in issuing and receiving all materials and accessories.
During 1936 he was selected as a representative for the Rubber Factory on the Management Advisory Committee and has been a member since its inception.
In March 1937, he was promoted to chief examiner, and now controls the quality of all rubber shoes leving the factory. All checkers are responsible to Mr Martin for the shoes they examine s they come off the conveyor.
