In August, 1935 there was a new waist laster in Department 322, a young man of eighteen years of age who was destined to work hard and gain rapid promotion. This fellow-worker was Mr Frederick Wright and the stroy of his four years at East Tilbury makes very interesting reading.
After one month he was moved to Department 321, and a fortnight later became a packer in Department 326.
In February, 1936. he got his next transfer when he was made checker in the same department. In May of the same year, he changed his department and became checker to Mr Pat Rogers.
It was no surprise when, seven months later, Mr Wright became foreman of Department 325, a position he holds at the present time. While in this position, he has taken part in two competitions and on both occasions he was successful in winning prizes.
In September, 1938 he came out top of the list in the rubber assembly group and became the proud possessor of a gold watch. In March 1939, Mr Wright was second to Mr Law in the competition and received a silver watch. On several occasions he has attended the managers; luncheon-conference as top foreman from the rubber factory.
