He was the son of Stanley and Louisa Jane Crooks of Grays.

Prior to the war Leonard Crooks worked for 3 years in the Leather Factory.

In the Bata Reord of 5th May 1944 he was reported missing, after Operations over Europe, and was now presumed killed.

He died on Friday 26th November 1943, aged 20.
